WHITE FILLINGS

White fillings refer to a material designed for placement inside teeth to restore decayed, broken or chipped teeth. Made of resin, they're safe, compatible, and adhere to the tooth surface with a bonding agent.

We use white fillings for maximum tooth preservation with minimal preparation needed. Our fillings are aesthetic and will match your natural tooth's colour so no one will know. We can also safely replace old amalgam fillings with white fillings.

FACIAL PAIN, TEETH GRINDING & HEADACHES

The joint that connects our jaw to our skull is called the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). It allows the jaw to move freely so we can eat, talk and laugh. Any problems with this joint can result in headaches, migraines, inflammation, muscle spasms, nerve pain and tightness in the face, neck and shoulders.

Our qualified practitioners can help you with TMJ-related discomfort and provide many cost-effective solutions.

TOOTH EXTRACTIONS

Wisdom teeth are the back teeth on either side of the upper and lower jaw. They are the last teeth to erupt and usually appear between ages 17 and 25.

Wisdom teeth only need to be removed if they grow sideways, partially emerge, or become impacted or trapped beneath the gum and bone. We may recommend removal to eliminate problems such as pain, bacterial and plaque build-up, cysts, overcrowding and teeth misalignment.

We can safely perform most wisdom tooth extractions at GCDC, but more complex cases may require day surgery under general anaesthetic or referral to an oral surgeon.

ORAL CANCER SCREENING

We provide the latest technology in oral cancer screening to identify oral cancer, precancerous conditions and other abnormal lesions at an early stage to help save lives.

FISSURE SEALANT

Sealants are placed in the fissures of the back teeth to prevent sticky foods from getting stuck in the grooves. They're made of white resin and can be placed using a non-invasive procedure.

Typically, young teenagers are the leading target group for fissure sealants, as their developing teeth are more vulnerable to weakness and can have deep grooves that are difficult to clean.

ORAL HYGIENE PROGRAM

A regular dentist check-up and an effective daily oral hygiene routine is the best prevention against tooth decay, bad breath, gum disease and poor oral health.

Our oral health therapist and hygienist provides all our patients with regular appointments for scale and cleaning and offers oral hygiene instructions on correct brushing and flossing techniques. We also offer an EMS Airflow machine for more efficient cleaning for those patients with more stubborn staining and sensitive teeth.

We use advanced methods and state-of-the-art equipment to safely diagnose an infected tooth and relieve pain as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Endodontic treatment is another term for root canal treatment and is sometimes necessary to save a tooth that's badly damaged due to decay, disease or injury.

If you need a root canal, there are usually some tell-tale signs that alert you to the problem, including:

  • Sensitivity to hot or cold temperatures
  • Pain in a tooth when you bite down or eat
  • A discolouring of a tooth
  • Swelling or soreness in the gums near the infected tooth
  • A small bump on the gums near the affected area

A root canal procedure is performed by identifying the pulp space of an infected tooth and carefully cleaning the space of bacteria before sealing it up to prevent further infection. Root canal therapy aims to save the tooth, as there is nothing better and stronger than having your own tooth for biting and chewing.

At Gold Coast Dental & Denture Centre, we have invested in the latest technology to provide our patients with safe and effective endodontic treatment.

Using a special motor called Reciproc helps remove infected nerves from the tooth. This motor uses a single file per patient, so there is no chance of cross infection and less chance of instruments breaking inside the tooth. Using this motor, our dentist can confidently administer the right amount of pressure and force to remove the infected nerve.
