ROLE OF THE ORAL HEALTH THERAPIST

Our qualified oral health therapist, Imola Foster, will play an important role in helping our patients maintain good oral hygiene for all ages from 3-99 years old. With additional qualifications in dentistry, Imola has extensive knowledge and experience in all kids' dental services, including myofunctional therapy and oral myology.

Her passion for children's dentistry allows Gold Coast Dental & Denture Centre to offer a wide range of options to assist children with all dental or pre-orthodontic and myofunctional treatments, including our comprehensive thumb-sucking cessation program.

Above all, we create a fun and relaxing experience for children to become used to regular dentist visits. We adopt a 'no pressure' approach when dealing with young patients and are happy to take small steps to get them comfortable with receiving treatment.

REGULAR CHECK-UPS

A dental check-up every 6 months is the key to your child's long-term oral and general health. Regular check-ups ensure early detection of dental or related issues so they can be treated quickly and don't develop into a bigger problem as they age.

Our appointments include scaling and cleaning, monitoring your in-home care, and giving instructions on effective brushing and flossing techniques.

FISSURE SEALANTS

Fissure sealants are made of white resin and placed in the back teeth' fissures to prevent food from getting stuck in the grooves. It's a non-invasive procedure commonly performed on young teenagers experiencing weakness in developing teeth.

MOUTHGUARDS

Does your child play sports? Have you considered the devastating effect it may have on you or your child if their tooth was knocked out while enjoying their sport?

Our dental prosthetist can protect your child's teeth with a custom-made mouthguard expertly crafted on-site at Gold Coast Dental & Denture Centre. Our mouthguards are affordable and allow for easier breathing and speaking – plus, they're available in a range of club colours!

DIETARY ADVICE

A healthy mouth starts with a healthy diet. We'll teach your kids healthy eating habits with fruit, vegetables and foods rich in calcium and iron, and the importance of drinking water to neutralise food acids from sugary snacks.

MEDICARE CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) offered by Medicare Australia to eligible children aged 2 to 17 is available for claiming at no out-of-pocket expense at our practice. Access to up to $1000 for basic dental services (capped over two years) includes check-ups, x-rays, fillings, root canals and extractions.

Your child may be eligible if they receive Medicare and you receive Family Tax Benefit Part A or certain other government payments. Please refer to the Medicare website for more information.
